What are podcast show notes?

Podcast show notes are a written summary or outline of the content discussed in a podcast episode. They provide a way for listeners to quickly understand what topics were covered in the episode, and can also include timestamps for specific segments or topics within the episode. Show notes typically include a brief introduction to the episode and its guests, a list of the main topics covered in the episode, and any relevant links or resources mentioned during the discussion. They may also include a transcript of the episode, a list of sponsors or advertisers, and any call-to-action or promotion the host wishes to make. Podcast show notes are important for both listeners and podcast creators. They provide a way for listeners to easily find and reference information discussed in an episode, and can also improve the visibility of the podcast in search engines by including relevant keywords and tags. For podcast creators, show notes can help to improve engagement and drive traffic to their website or social media channels.

What is typically included in episode show notes?

  1. Episode title and number: This helps listeners identify the episode they are looking for and helps with organization.
  2. Date of release: This lets listeners know when the episode was released.
  3. Brief summary: A short summary of the episode, typically a few sentences, that highlights the main topics or themes discussed in the episode.
  4. Timestamps: Timestamps are often included to allow listeners to easily navigate to specific parts of the episode. These can be used to highlight important moments, interesting guests, or specific topics discussed in the episode.
  5. Resources and links: Any relevant links or resources mentioned in the episode should be included in the show notes. This can include links to websites, books, articles, or other podcasts.
  6. Guest bios: If there are any guests featured in the episode, their bios and relevant links to their work should be included in the show notes.
  7. Sponsors and advertisements: If the podcast has any sponsors or advertisements, they are often included in the show notes.
  8. Transcripts: Some podcasts offer transcripts of their episodes, which can be included in the show notes. This can be helpful for listeners who prefer to read or who have hearing impairments.

How long can my episodes be?

There is no set duration, but we do have a file size constraint. Most podcast episodes will never reach this limit, but please send us a message if you run into any issues.
